P. Kurt Bamberger, M.D., F.A.C.S.

“With a deep interest in technology, I am continuously learning and applying the most technically advanced surgical treatments.  While it’s cutting-edge in the OR, I am really a country doctor at heart. Nothing should replace the personal connection between doctor and patient. It is our mission to provide you comfortable, personable and successful surgical care.”

Dr. Bamberger specialized in minimally invasive and robotic techniques with a special interest in complex hernia surgeries and cancer surgery. Despite the tremendous medical advances that he has seen throughout his career, Kurt maintains that the surgeon’s objective is simple and timeless: identify the problem and surgically intervene when indicated.

For the past 20 years, Dr. Bamberger has been involved in resident education, currently serving as the director of the affiliated surgical residency program at the Reading Hospital. He believes that this relationship is symbiotic — new surgeons get trained at a progressive, state of the art hospital and he is challenged by them to keep current and questioning.

A graduate of Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, he completed his surgical residency at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, District of Columbia. Dr. Bamberger served in the United States Army from 1990 – 2000.  An alumnus of Temple University, he grew up in Chester County Pennsylvania. At Temple he was a biochemistry major and football team member from 1981-1984. He still bleeds cherry and white!

Over the past decade, Dr. Bamberger has taken six trips to the Sangre de Cristo Health Care Project in Guatemala to volunteer his services, providing surgery to the people of the La Labor region.

The father of three sons, Kurt and Carolyn live in Wyomissing with their dog, Cosby. When he is not in the OR, he is doing reconstructive surgery, of sorts, on his 1970 Karmann Ghia.
